First Time’s The Charm…. Finding Your Dress At Your First Appointment

Welcome back Brides… to the Bellamme Blog! This month we are talking all things ‘first time shopping’! Whether its nerves, excitement or finding the one, we’re here to guide you through that very first appointment.

It’s completely normal to feel nervous before your first appointment. It’s an emotional time, so feelings may already be running high, and after all… it’s a totally new experience, so you may not know what to expect. That’s why we’re here as stylists to alleviate some of that initial worry, and answer some of those burning questions.

So, let’s imagine…

You’ve just discovered Bellamme, you’ve booked the appointment and now you’re left wondering…what do I wear? We suggest trying to wear something that is easy to change in and out of, but ultimately, our answer to this question will always be – wear whatever you feel most comfortable in, and this goes for underwear too! Although that may sound vague, feeling comfortable and confident coming into your appointment can work wonders to help kickstart your bridal journey on a high. And as for underwear, all our beautiful dresses have built in structure and support, some of them even having an actual built in bra! So, specific underwear needn’t be a worry, both at your appointment and on your special day!

So, you’ve picked your outfit…

...you’re feeling excited, but then you have the age-old thought of, who do I bring with me? The answer to this question isn’t as complicated as it may seem. Through social media and tradition, there tends to be a lot of pressure put on brides when it comes to who they’re bringing with them to find their dress. Everyone wants to be involved in this special moment, it’s an exciting time and it’s only natural that everyone wants to celebrate with you.

However…have you heard the saying ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’? Sometimes, having a lot of outside opinions can be overwhelming. Which is why it’s key that your entourage is made up of your most important people, those who you feel supported, listened to and cared for by. You may decide that you want to bring your entire bridal party, come on your own, or even that you want to bring your fiancé with you…Whatever feels right for you, is right for you. As stylists we will be excited and waiting with prosecco in hand to welcome whoever comes along!

Now, you’ve got the best people around you...

...and you think you’ve found ‘the one’…. what do you do? The idea of finding your dress at the first appointment can feel daunting.

Your instant reaction may be, can it be this easy? The short answer is, YES, it absolutely can be!

Finding your dream dress shouldn’t have to be a challenge. Social media has painted a picture of brides going through trials and tribulations until they find ‘the one’. While that does sometimes happen, you shouldn’t feel any less deserving of your dress if it doesn’t. If we flip this scenario on its head and look at it in a different light, how exciting is it to find your dream dress at your very first appointment? You have a perfect bridal story to tell for the rest of your life, about how you found ‘the one’ and how magical the moment was.

Finding your dress at your first appointment is far more common than you might think...

Some brides feel nervous about saying ‘yes to the dress’ their first time dress shopping. That feeling of ‘what if’ can creep in and some brides may start to doubt themselves. But, it can help to stop and ask yourself, if you feel comfortable and confident in your dress, and you can picture yourself wearing it on your big day, then what else are you looking for? Those feelings are more important than anything. Continuing to shop ‘just in case’ can often send you backwards in your bridal journey. Trust your instincts! Finding your dress quickly isn’t a red flag, it just means the dress found you sooner than you were expecting!

And as we all know, the best things in life finds you when you least expect it.

You’re allowed to love the first dress you try on! You’re allowed to fall in love in your very first appointment! You don’t need permission to be happy and feel incredible in your wedding dress. That’s exactly how you should feel, and that’s exactly what us stylists are here to help you achieve.
